Figure Drawing, Back Study

Back Study
14 x 16 inches
Graphite pencil, charcoal and chalk on toned paper

I did this drawing over two sessions at the Tuesday evening figure model sessions I host at my San Francisco Mission District studio. My recent Anatomy/Ecorche studies came into play as I tried to identify all the anatomical landmarks revealed by the raking light across her back.

I still have a few spaces left in my upcoming Figure Drawing Class, 6 Sundays starting September 12. For more details and to register visit my Teaching Page.

Darte thank you, I am simply lucky to have reached an era where the training many artists have wished for for decades is finally available. My sensitivity is my own, but I owe any skill I have acquired to my amazing teachers who each helped carry a small flame through a long tunnel.

Really nicely done. You're right, we are living in a time where traditional art methods are being taught again, I wish many decades back it had been so when I started my college years. you have an amazing touch.
